A great blog for crafters here in Michigan (especially in the Detroit area) is Handmade Detroit. They are right in the middle of their 12 days of free Christmas projects. They featured some handmade gift tags the other day. Do yourself a favor and check out this really well put together blog that shows the creativity of people in the craft scene on the east side of the mitten.

Winter-related businesses in Michigan are enjoying the snow and cold we have had as of late. Ski resorts across Michigan have been able to pump out snow to help add to what comes down naturally and snowmobilers across the U.P. have the chance to get their sleds out before Christmas for the first time in a couple of years. This is great news for the many Michigan businesses who depend on cold and snow as a major part of their income. Michigan's economy can use all the help it can get these days so it's nice to see a good start to Michigan's winter tourism industry which has suffered the past few years due to warm temps and a lack of snow.

I found out about this new website from another Pro-Michigan site we support - BuyMichiganProducts.com. When I checked out the Holiday Christmas Shopping Guide from BuyMichiganNow.com I noticed that Gift Baskets From Michigan LLC was lucky enough to be mentioned as one of the places to get your Michigan gift baskets. Cool.
According to the feature run on Fox 2 Detroit - Lisa Diggs, founder of BuyMichiganNow.com, "hopes 5,000 people will take the pledge by Dec. 31." I signed it and was Number 620. I hope that folks take notice and check it out.
Neat little video about poinsettias as far as growing and taking care of them from the Bordine Nursery up in Grand Blanc. A nice addition would have been what, exactly, joined the poinsettia with Christmas.
