Order your Christmas gift baskets now and we'll hold them for Christmas delivery

Andrew Norton

Order your Michigan gift baskets early and choose the "Hold for December 18th Shipment" to avoid waiting to the last minute to place your gift orders this Christmas. Last year we had a huge increase in the number of customers who took advantage of this feature. I actually had someone place an order after the particular basket they wanted was no longer in stock and they said that they had looked at it back in November and knew that was the one they wanted, but they wanted to have it delivered closer to Christmas so they waited. I apologized for the basket being out of stock (they placed the order anyway and called it a Happy New Year Gift Basket) and let her know that we have a great feature that helps you to avoid waiting too long and either having the gift basket be out of stock or not being guaranteed of a Christmas delivery.

Visit our 2008 Christmas Shipping Calendar for all the details and information on where in the checkout you choose the "hold" option. We're working hard to not run out of inventory this year, but we can never predict when a particular gift basket will "get hot" and sell out. It tends to surprise me each year which Michigan gift basket is the top seller for the Christmas season.

We'll be putting up our entire selection of Christmas themed gift baskets this weekend so stay tuned! These baskets will only be available until Christmas. We've got some great new products added to the mix this year and can't wait to show you.

Beautiful picture from the first snow in southwest Michigan

Desert Anyone?, originally uploaded by shackman32001.

I had hopes of getting out yesterday and taking some pictures of the gorgeous snowfall we had yesterday, but alas, too many gift baskets to build and ship (which is not a problem). By the time I was done it was dark and I was tired.

However, a quick search on flickr.com turned up this gem from the Kalamazoo area. I love the stark contrast of the very red berries and pure white snow.

Looking for some snow?

snowy tree, originally uploaded by Blondieyooper.

For those crazy people that are ready for snow, here's a beautiful shot by Blondieyooper. She takes wonderful photos from around Michigan's wonderful Upper Peninsula. This one is a keeper.

I'll sit back with my mug of cocoa and enjoy this pleasant picture while outside there is no snow to shovel. Ahhh.

We have a Yooper Tree for the State Christmas tree this year

Andrew Norton

Thanks to George Miljour from the burg of Suomi Junction (near Palmer which if you don't know where that is, it's southeast of Ishpeming) in Michigan's Upper Peninsula has donated a 101 year old spruce for this year's Michigan Christmas Tree to be displayed at the State Capital in Lansing. Last year's tree also came from the U.P. - Gladstone to be exact. The lighting ceremony is slated for November 21st. Read all about the Yooper State Christmas Tree at the Mining Journal.

Are you ready for snow?

Andrew Norton

This week's poll question was inspired by my four-year-old. He has been excited since last week when he heard the weatherman say there was a chance for some snow this past weekend. You should have seen his face yesterday when a band of snow showers passed through. Are you ready for snow? Do you have your snow shovels and ice scrapers at the ready? I'm not ready for snow just yet. I was enjoying the 70 degree temps last week. As they say, ready or not - here it comes!
