Michigan political news heats up as election draws near

One of the hottest topics here at the All Things Michigan blog was a post I wrote after a friend of mine moved to Colorado for better job prospects. There was a lot of good discussion and points made in the comments section of the post. The bottom line about this year's election for the next governor of Michigan is that whomever wins needs to get the Michigan Representatives and Senate to put partisan politics aside and do what is right for Michigan.

Another positive about the elections taking place next Tuesday - only eight more days of political ads on radio and television. That sure makes me smile :).

Michigan gas prices inch up from last week

Gas prices across Michigan have increased $.07 from last week up to $2.241. There was a local gas price war around the area last week with prices hovering around $2.97 for most of last week. Of course, it didn't last long and now everyone is charging around $2.21 here in southwest Michigan. Just last month Michigan gas prices were at $2.189 so we have not had too dramatic of a price increase. One year ago folks in Michigan were paying $2.41 per gallon. So, it could always be worse.

Turn back your clocks tonight

Before you head off to bed tonight remember to turn back your clocks one hour. We "gain" an extra hour of sleep tonight. Ah, the joys of Daylight Savings Time.

No, these movies are not Michigan-related (at least not that I can tell). I just thought that with Halloween coming up people might be in the mood for some campy horror movies. Thanks to the wonder of the internet, those of us with broadband connections can watch these movies for free online at Google Video. Get that popcorn poppin' and settle down for some classic horror movie fun. These movies fell out of copyright and are currently in the public domain which means that you won't be in trouble for watching them ;). You can even download them to your computer if you so desire.
