New television ads launched for Pure Michigan campaign

by admin on March 25, 2009

In the same week that an MSU study came out predicting another drop in Michigan tourism, the state is launching new ads across the nation continuing the successful Pure Michigan campaign. I’ve written here before that I, for one, like the Pure Michigan ads. In fact, I created a page dedicated to the commercials at Pure Michigan. You can watch all of the commercials as well as listen to the radio spots.

I’m hoping that we’ll be pleasantly surprised this year and see tourism numbers better than what are anticipated. I know we’ll be going on at least a couple vacations within Michigan this summer and hopefully others will too.

Here’s my favorite new Pure Michigan ad that features Michigan’s lighthouses –

I’m with you in hoping tourism spending will be higher than the level predicted by MSU. We’re seeing some positive signs here in our little slice of the Thumb. Our B&B website traffic in January was double that of January 2008. February was even with last year, but March’s traffic was up by a third. Traffic doesn’t always result in immediate bookings, but we do have more bookings for ’09 than in prior years, and for whatever reason, our rental cottage is booking up much faster this year. (Compared to last January through April, when I would sometimes dial our business number just to see if the line was working.) It’s an odd pattern, too. July usually goes first, but as of now it’s pretty open and June, meanwhile, has only five open days and August just one available week. I found your site during a quest to see the new Pure Michigan ads, which are terrific, I agree.
