Wind Farm Nominated for Award

by admin on February 20, 2006

Mackinac Power, based in Lowell, MI, is the company that runs the wind power generating farm near Mackinaw City.  If you have been up to Mackinaw City in the past few years then you have most likely witnessed the two 230 foot tall windmills.  The company has been nominated by state officials for the 2006 National Small Business Enivironmental Stewardship Award.

The windmills generate over 9 million killowatt hours of electricity with zero air pollution.  Winners of the award will be announced in March.  It would be great to see a Michigan-based company receive this award.  It would be another plus for our state as we seek to become the alternative energy hub of the country.
