Blueberry Pudding Cake

I clipped this recipe out of a magazine years ago and finally tried it this year. I don’t know what took me so long - it is delicious and so easy!

2 c. blueberries
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. lemon juice
Combine above ingredients and place in a greased 8-inch square baking dish.
1 c. flour
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. [...]

Here are just a few ideas for great free things to do in Michigan (besides reading this blog of course ) before summer is over. I picked these from this book, “What’s Cheap & Free in Michigan.”
Deadman’s Hill - a great view of the Jordan Valley from one of the higher spots in [...]

“The Corner” was written and sung by Ben Hassenger about his and others’ memories of Tiger Stadium. He plans on heading down to The Corner from his home near Lansing to shoot a video.
You can take a listen at his MySpace page or the Detroit Free Press.
I think he did a great job. [...]

Update on my garden

When I planted pole beans this year I staggered the planting so we would have a steady flow of green beans during the summer. Our first planting began producing beans at the end of last week and we have already enjoyed two quarts of delicious and tender beans. The other plantings are catching [...]

Michigan has been blessed with just the right amount of rain for most areas where sweet corn is being grown. It looks to be a much better crop than last year’s which saw too much dry weather in most of Michigan to produce a good crop.
I’ve had a meal of Michigan sweet corn and [...]

This morning we took the kids blueberry picking at Locke’s Fruitful Acres. Even though the owner, Victoria, said they suffered some frost damage this spring I thought the blueberry bushes were just as plentiful as in past years.

It’s that time of the year here in Michigan when the local blueberry patch has bushes that are so heavy laden with berries that they appear blue themselves at first glance. Blueberries are probably my favorite berry grown in Michigan.

No hulling is required like strawberries and no big seeds that get stuck in your teeth like raspberries. Just wash, eat, and enjoy.

Going with a blueberry theme, I thought I would highlight our Blueberry Gift Basket. It makes a perfect gift any time of the year for fans of blueberries all across the country.

Versus a smattering of some Lower Peninsula temps -

I found this video of Tiger Stadium’s demolition on YouTube this afternoon. I don’t mean to be so heavy these days on the demolition of Tiger Stadium, but it’s not everyday that a historic Michigan structure with so many fans is ripped down.

This was recorded by someone from www.BuildingsofDetroit.com.
